June 2019

Welcome to June! This month we have some great, sunny activities onoffer and would love you all to come along to join in the fun. Our Teddy Bear’s Picnic kicks off on the 6th of June and we want all our youngest members to bring their best-dressed bears for the Teddy Bear’s Parade! Volunteers from Marks & Spencer will choose their favourite to win a prize! We will also be sharing a fabulous buffet and offering colouring & play activities as well as story-time and a raffle. Later on in the month, on the 26th June, we will celebrate having more in common as we host our annual BBQ. Everyone is welcome to come along for free food and social activities from 12.00 – 2.00 p.m. Also don’t miss our NEW Gentle Exercise Sessions, Carers’ Café and Happy Café this month – details overleaf!

May 2019

Welcome to May!

We have enjoyed some lovely weather over the last month and a few days of rain which has done wonders for the flowers in the grounds at the centre. Don’t forget we have two Bank Holidays coming up this month when the centre will be closed, but we are open as usual for the reminder of May with a full itinerary of activities and resources. We also have our monthly Carers’ Café on the 15th May and the Happy Café on the 31st May when we will be looking at Mindfulness. Please call us on 01274 679843 for more details about any of our activities.

We’ll be closed for the Bank Holidays on the 6th and 27th May 2019

Provident Funds Happy Cafes

We would like to thank the Provident Financial Group for their continued support and funding which will enable us to run 12 Happy Cafes at the Sedbergh Centre over the coming year. The Happy Cafes will benefit members of the local community by helping people to connect with each other and learn new skills to improve well-being by taking part in a number of ‘Happy’ initiatives. We would love to encourage people to come along and join in with the group on the last Friday of each month from 10:00-12:00 noon. Admission is £2.00.

Youth Club Activities

Youth Club members had fun in April when they learnt how to make healthy snacks including fruit & yoghurts as well as Easter bun decorating. Children aged 6-13 years are welcome to come along on Tuesdays between 5.30 & 8.30 p.m. for games, sports and activities to encourage well-being & improve social skills. Admission is £3.00

We are delighted to announce that we have bagged £4,000 from Tesco’s Bags of Help community grant scheme to fund the Toddlers’ Eat and Beat with Your Feet project, thanks to our lovely clients who voted in Tesco stores. Tesco have been a great support to the centre and this additional funding will pay for fun activities and healthy snacks for babies and young people attending the sessions. We hope to encourage our youngest clients to eat and enjoy healthy food and educate them through sensory play, music, dancing and play in a fun environment. Bags of Help is run in partnership with environmental charity Groundwork, and sees grants awarded to thousands of local community projects every year. Thank you Tesco!
