Welcome to March!
Spring is in the air (well it should be anyway) and at last we can see new buds and daffodils beginning to appear! This month we have a lot going on, as well as our usual jam-packed intinerary, we have a couple of additional projects on the go including an induction day for FREE level 2 courses (see below) and the launch of our exciting Making a Man Shed campaign! Please read on…
FREE Home Study Courses (Level 2 Certificate)
We have a number of different home study courses available for induction on Friday 3rd April from 10.30 – 12:00 subject to criteria. All candidates MUST attend the induction to qualify for this FREE funding. Please email Lucy at [email protected] for full course details and to secure your place.
Sedbergh Spotlight – Carers’ Cafe
The Sedbergh Carers’ Café is a monthly session taking place on the third Wednesday of the month. Set up to give respite to those who care or who have cared for others, we offer a light-hearted social network including lunch, carer information, games, quizzes, crafts & holistic well-being sessions. Admission: £1.50.
Help us Make a Man Shed
Can you help us make a Man Shed – a weekly session – for men to get together for social activities, support & laughs to help clients gain a renewed sense of purpose, belonging & well-being? A Man Shed can help build social connections; forge new friendships and go a long way towards improving health & happiness – reduce loneliness and even save lives. Now we want to crowdfund £1,000 to really get the project started and are asking for donations of any amount to pay towards providing refreshments; develop the project out to more men and make a contribution towards utilities.
There are a number of rewards available for specific donations and it is easy to contribute. Please visit https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/manshed from 4th March until 22nd April and ‘like’ and ‘follow’ our page at https://www.facebook.com/sedberghmanshed to join the crowd!
Dancers Wow Disneyland
Pro-dance Academy Bradford recently performed in Disneyland, Paris! After successfully gaining a place, they flew out 27 of their advanced dancers; took part in a workshop then showcased a 20-minute performance in front of a huge audience. The dancers were amazing and received comments from the Disney Director saying what a brilliant job Pro-dance Academy did – from the dancing to the costumes on stage! Before the dancers came home, they enjoyed the theme parks by meeting the Disney characters and went on the rides. Pro-dance Academy would like to thank Sedbergh Youth & Community Centre for helping with fund-raising and venue hire, Tesco Halifax Road for allowing them to bag-pack and everyone who contributed. Pro-dance Academy, Bradford – we couldn’t be prouder! Well done.
